A 12-BORE 'ROYAL' FACILE PRINCEPS EJECTOR, serial no. 39654,
for 1892, 30in. nitro reproved (in 2017) Greener trademark fine damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'W.W. GREENER. 68 HAYMARKET LONDON. WINNER AT THE LONDON GUN TRIALS 1875. 1877. 1878 & 1879.' and with finely engraved depiction of a crane at the breech end, the tubes finely engraved with acanthus scrollwork at both breech and muzzle ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and true cyl. choke, scroll-back treble-grip action with carved serpentine fences, toplever gold-inlaid with a crown, manual side-safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, incorporating Greener's improved ejector patent 2003 of 1881, use number 1927, the action profusely engraved with fine scrollwork surrounding vignettes of spaniel flushing mallard, pointer and partridge, the underside with a two rabbits, the safety engraved with a further rabbit, the triggerguard with two pointers, the tang with a skein of fowl and the serial number, 14 3/4in. stock with horn insert spearhead drop points, ornately bordered chequering, gold oval escutcheon initialled 'J.B.D.' and including 5/8in. buttplate, fore-end with replacement wood carved en suite and with horn finial, weight 7lb. 2oz., in its brass-cornered oak lined leather case with gold-tooled trade label, the lid outer marked 'J.B.D', together with three vintage 'Licence or Certificate to Kill Game' paper licences, dated to 1892, 1893 and 1894, made out in the name of James Borwick Davison of Fircroft, Ditton Hill, Surbiton, Surrey, each costing £3:0:0

Provenance: The makers have kindly supplied the following information regarding the gun:

"W. W. Greener gun no. 39654 was started on 7th December 1891 and finished on 14th April 1892. It is a 12 bore with 30 inch barrels - original owner is not recorded. Stock dimensions 2 by 14-3/8 inches. A Royal grade ejector engraved by Perry."

The vendor kindly informs us that the gun has been recently had the action and ejectors stripped and serviced, the stock refurbished and the barrels rebrowned by Malcolm Cruxton
