circa 1902, 28in. nitro barrels (No.2 lined, No.1 left wall at 18), the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98 NEW BOND STREET. LONDON. (barely legible), and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech-ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. choke in both (No.1) 1/4 and 1/2 choke (No.2), carved shell fences, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best bold floral and scroll engraving, the undersides with cartouches engraved 'ROYAL HAMMERLESS EJECTOR', bright and blued finish overall (No.1), traces of renewed colour-hardening and finish (No.2), 14 1/2in. figured stocks including 5/8in. ebonite extension (No.1), 15in. figured stock including 1in. wooden extension (No.2), (setting cracks to rear of lockplates on both, No.1 cracked at hand), weight 6lb. 6oz.
