A RARE .45-85 (BULLARD) LEVER-ACTION REPEATING RIFLE, MODEL '1886 LARGE FRAME', serial no. 2590,
circa 1889, with re-blued round 26in. barrel re-proofed as a .45-70 Govt. and devoid of markings, dove-tailed fore-sight with brass blade, elevating buckhorn rear-sight, stamped 'CAL 45-85' to top of the slab-sided re-colour hardened receiver, the side marked 'MODEL 1886', sliding dust-cover, colour-hardened central hammer, walnut straight-hand butt-stock with semi-crescent colour-hardened iron heel-plate, colour hardened under-lever with finger-loop, hinged loading gate to the underside of action, plain walnut fore-end, iron nose cap and full-length under-barrel magazine, the whole with expertly renewed finish and colour and including a copy of the work 'BULLARD ARMS' by G. Scott Jamieson, weight of rifle approx. 8 3/4lb.
