A .455 (AUTO) SEMI-AUTOMATIC SERVICE-PISTOL, MODEL 'MKI 'N'', serial no. 558,
for 1913, with 5in. exposed barrel, square profile slide marked on the left 'WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD, PISTOL SELF-LOADING .455 MKI (N)' together with the date and the 'winged bullet' trademark, blade fore-sight, dove-tailed rear-sight, blued frame with exposed hammer and grip-safe to the back-strap, chequered hard-rubber grips (together with a spare pair), lanyard ring at heel, retaining virtually all of a possible factory refinish, the inscriptions with white paint infill, in a plastic carry case, overall length of pistol 9 1/2in.

Provenance: This pistol is accompanied by a letter from Webley (dated 1984) listing this pistol as '...being sold in 1913 to the British Government as part of a batch of approximately 900. The records only indicate 'Portsmouth' as the destination.'
