circa 1900, with 26in. half round half octagonal blued barrel of No2. weight, 'rocky mountain' fore-sight, buck-horn rear-sight, the left rear flat of breech marked with the calibre, the right 'J. STEVENS A & T CO, CHICOPEE FALLS MASS USA', colour hardened slab-sided receiver with central falling breech and hammer, folding vernier tang sight to wrist, walnut butt-stock with crescent heel-plate (originally nickel-plated), finger-lever forming the trigger-guard, walnut splinter fore-end with schnabel tip, much original finish remaining throughout, overall length 42in., weight approximately 7 1/2lbs.
