A .577 (SNIDER) BREECH-LOADING RIFLE, UNSIGNED, MODEL 'TWO-BAND SNIDER', serial no. 141,
circa 1865, with blued 30 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, flip open breech with shaped solid thumb-piece, the block marked 'SNIDER'S PATENT', plain bar-action lock and hammer, walnut full-stock with brass furniture except two iron barrel-bands and jag-ended underbarrel clearing rod, overall length 49 1/4in., weight approximately 8 1/2lbs.
