A .32 (RIMFIRE) TAKE-DOWN SHORT POCKET-RIFLE, MODEL 'NEW MODEL POCKET-RIFLE', serial no. 8417,
circa 1890, with two-stage 15in. barrel (traces only of original finish), tunnel fore-sight with moulded blade to top, elevating buckhorn rear-sight forward of breech with elevating blade, the left hand side top-flat signed 'J. STEVENS & CO. CHICOPEE FALLS MASS. PAT. SEPT 6 1864', push-button barrel release to left side of frame, external hammer with firing pin bushed in frame, moulded and rounded nickel-plated iron receiver with spur trigger (much plating remaining), smooth flared walnut grips, the back-strap with threaded aperture and the heel cut with a dove-tail to accept a nickel-plated wire skeleton stock (present, matching number), 28 3/4in. overall with stock fitted, weight approximately 2 1/4lbs.
