A 10x47R SINGLE-SHOT BOLT-ACTION TARGET-RIFLE, no visible serial number,
circa 1890, with octagonal 27 1/2in. barrel, the first third carved with a dove-tail for an adjustable rear-sight (absent), adjustable fore-sight with side protectors, colour hardened octagonal form receiver signed 'OTTO HODAPP CARLSRUHE' in white metal inlay on the left top-flat and surrounded by an engraved border panel of open white-metal scrollwork, smaller unsigned panels repeated to both the top and top-right flats, short straight bolt handle, no provision for safety catch, the top-tang with squared socket for an aperture sight (absent), walnut half-stock with heavy iron hooked butt-plate, double-set triggers within a complex trigger guard and iron swivels
