dated for 1879, with round 25in. barrel marked 'WHITWORTH PATENT', block and blade fore-sight, period replacement elevating ladder rear-sight with four additional flush-folding leaves, rear-mounted lift-up breech lever marked 'MANUFACTURED BY WESTLEY RICHARDS' and marked with a triangle trademark containing a letter 'C', colour hardened bar-action lock signed on the bar 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO, 1879', external hammer, walnut full-stock, iron furniture, the heel-plate with central trapdoor and ball tipped under-barrel clearing rod, strong traces of finish below staining, overall length 41 1/4in., weight approximately 7 1/4lbs.
