A 20-BORE SNAPHAUNCE BLUNDERBUSS or BREAST-PISTOL, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
North African circa 1820, with 12 1/2in. heavily swamped iron barrel, the breech area profusely decorated with silver koftgari-work with smaller panels of similar to the forward central section and muzzle, solid top-tang fixed from below, iron lockplate decorated with engraved panels of brass to the tail, pan, cock and bridle, inlet recumbent crescent and flame device in lieu of signature, automatic pan cover (currently does not hold on cock), walnut full-stock (some losses to edges of fore-end tip) with fish-tail butt built up with two variegated wood pieces and decorated with an inlet white metal geometric band (inlet repair to toe, some shrinkage and movement to wood pieces), brass trigger-guard bow and replacement wood ramrod, overall length 24 1/2in., weight approximately 2 5/8lbs.
