A GOOD .750 FLINTLOCK MUSKET, MODEL 'INDIA PATTERN BROWN BESS', rack no. 4, WITH BAYONET,
circa 1810, with faded brown 39in. barrel signed at the breech, 'RIVIERE, LONDON', private proofs, moulded band forwards of top tang, the tang engraved '4', military type lock signed 'RIVIERE' below pan and engraved with borderlines and stamped with an ordnance mark, walnut hand-rail full-stock with brass furniture, trumpet mouth ramrod pipes and iron under-barrel ramrod (provision for front stirrup swivel, absent), complete with an iron socket bayonet, unmarked (some staining and frosting), overall length without bayonet 55 1/2in., weight approximately 9 1/4lbs.
