In 1942 he was a key member of the RAF Photographic Interpretation (P.I.) Unit at Medenham, reporting directly to Mr Duncan Sandys at the Air Ministry. He was credited with the identification of the German V2 site at Peenemunde (Ref 'V Weapons Hunt' by Col. Roy Stanley and 'The Eye of Intelligence' by Ursula Powys-Lybbe). Because of his fluency in French, late in the war he also conducted undercover missions in Europe. This revolver, believed originally used by his father in World War One, was carried by Kenny throughout
