produced from unfinished and unassembled parts circa 1875, with nickel-plated possibly factory shortened 5 1/2in. octagonal barrel signed 'ADDRESS COL SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA', plugged loading lever slot (hole for rammer vacant), side-mounted ejector, nickel-plated cylinder with roll engraved scene, modified standing breech with attached loading gate, plated open iron frame, hammer with modified nose, plated brass front-strap and guard, period smooth ivory grips (age cracks, right toe repaired), wear to plating especially cylinder
