circa 1910, with blued round 27 1/4in. barrel, block fore-sight mount with tunnel bead, standing notch folding rear-sight micro-adjustable ladder marked 'PATENT No. 2735/1900', the top of barrel forwards of rear-sight signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO., LONDON' and behind the rear-sight near breech marked 'FOR .300 SPECIAL CARTRIDGE' and 'PATENT No. 9711. DETACHABLE BARREL 647', slab sided receiver marked WESTLEY RICHARDS SHERWOOD RIFLE' on the left and 'PATENT REMOVABLE ACTION' on the right, dropping load ramp, chequered walnut butt-stock with iron heel-plate, under-lever cocking, chequered walnut beaver-tail fore-end and strong amount of original finish
