the lock dated for 1860, with blued 21 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, small ladder carbine rear-sight, side of barrel at breech marked with sold out of service stamps, inspectors marks and 'STEEL', hinged flip-open breech marked 'BSA.CO', the rear of receiver marked 'YWI' above the serial number, military style lock signed 'ENFIELD' below the date and marked with a 'VR' crown device at tail, walnut three-quarter stock with brass furniture, the tang of heel-plate stamped 'V' over 'YWAI' over the serial number, two iron barrel-bands and bayonet lug to right side of muzzle
