AN HISTORIC CRIMEAN WAR .36 PERCUSSION REVOLVER, MODEL '1851 LONDON NAVY', serial no. 22025,
for 1855, with octagonal 7 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'ADDRESS COL. COLT, LONDON', the right hand flat at breech engraved 'G.F.C. POCOCK XXXth REG'T', the opposite side 'CRIMEA 1855', bead fore-sight, London proofs, plain roll engraved cylinder (numbered 17353), open iron frame marked 'COLT'S PATENT', dome headed action screws, iron grip-straps and trigger-guard, hinged under-barrel rammer and smooth walnut grips, traces of original finish.

Provenance: Captain, later Hon. Colonel G.F.C. Pocock was an officer in the 30th Foot regiment. Page 19 of the Military Gazette dated November 3rd 1855 lists Captain G.F.C. Pocock as being made up to Major after the battle of Sebastopol during the Crimean wars. It is believed this revolver was carried by him throughout the campaign. The British Army Quarterly lists for 1913-1919 also has the following entry:
Pocock, Sir G. F. C. (Hon. Col. ret. pay)—Crimean Campaign, 1855.— Siege and fall of Sevastopol (wounded). Despatches, Lond. Gaz., 5 Oct. 55. Medal with clasp ; Turkish medal; 5th class of Medjidie.
