circa 1860, with octagonal iron 9in. barrels signed in gilt on the top-flats 'J. ROESSLER IN CARLSRUHE', dove-tailed blade fore-sights, scroll engraved breeches, adjustable standing notch rear-sights to the scroll engraved top-tangs, carved fenced and engraved snails, borderline and scroll engraved back-action locks and hammers, walnut half-stocks with fluted butts, engraved butt-caps with truncated spires, spurred trigger-guard bows and horn fore-end tips, the pair contained within their makers walnut storage case, lined and compartmented in the continental style with dark green baize and with a full complement of original accessories including a scissors mould, loading mallet, cleaning rod, nipple-key, turn-screw, powder-flask, adjustable measure and double ended wood barrel for caps and patches
