circa 1862, with blued octagonal 7 3/8in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'PATENTED DEC 17 1861, MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION, N.Y.', dove-tailed fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, solid iron frame, plain six-shot cylinder, single action mechanism with spurred hammer, smooth flared walnut grips and hinged and grooved under-barrel rammer allowing the cylinder pin to be drawn forwards without having to lower the lever, later engraving to the hammer sides and underside of loading lever, much finish to barrel, traces of finish elsewhere
