circa 1850, with rifled octagonal 10in. barrel recessed at the muzzle for a ball-starter (absent), the top-flat signed 'E, TRIEBEL, AUGSBURG', dove-tailed pillar fore-sight with side-protectors, standing notch rear-sight, carved and fenced snail, long borderline and scroll engraved top-strap with a square aperture possibly for an auxiliary sight (missing), borderline and scroll engraved bar-action lock and hammer, walnut half-stock with chequered panels to the grip, flared pommel with diamond-shaped iron pommel-cap, spurred iron trigger-guard bow, set trigger and schnabel fore-end, no provision for ramrod
