for between 1835-44, with re-browned fine twist 32in. barrels (marked at '16'), the top-rib signed 'JOHN MANTON & SON, DOVER STREET, LONDON' (lightly rubbed), bead fore-sight, scroll engraving at rib end, platinum vented plugs at breech, scroll engraved top-tang with a panel featuring a standing pheasant, border, scroll and game-scene engraved bar-action locks signed 'JNO. MANTON & SON, PATENT', patent hammers, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture and brass mounted wood ramrod, complete with its makers original walnut case, parchment trade-label inside lid, compartmented and lined in green baize and containing a period powder flask, small leather wallet, a turn-screw, and a boxwood pot together with sundry accessories, all possibly added, 'D' ring circular handle to case lid
