A .451 (WHITWORTH) PERCUSSION RIFLE, MODEL 'TWO-BAND VOLUNTEER', serial no. 750 (5256),
circa 1860, with 33in. possibly shortened barrel marked 'WHITWORTH PATENT' (rubbed), block and dove-tailed blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, the top-tang amateurly stamped 'HENRY 5256', borderline engraved lock signed 'WHITWORTH' on the bar and marked with the 'wheatsheaf' trademark at the tail, sliding safe forwards of the hammer, chequered walnut full-stock with inlet borderline engraved iron patch-box to right side of butt, iron furniture including heel-plate and borderline engraved lower tang and trigger-guard, two barrel-bands and brass tipped iron ramrod
