Product Details

* A 15-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN SIGNED 'MANTON, LONDON', no visible serial number,
almost certainly John Manton circa 1860, with possible replacement (see footnote) re-blued 32in. London proved twist iron heavy barrels, raised sighting rib signed 'LONDON', bead fore-sight, gold line, border engraving and the head of a hunting dog engraved at breech, platinum plugs and engraved bolsters, fully scroll engraved top-tang, border, scroll and gamescene engraved bar-action locks with dipped tails and sliding safes behind the hammers, walnut half-stock (chequering removed in antiquity from wrist and possibly fore-end), void escutcheon to top of wrist, twin set triggers, iron furniture (re-blued, detail rubbed) and provision for under-barrel ramrod (absent)

Other Notes: The presence of set triggers for both barrels would suggest that either this gun was originally a rifle or equipped with an extra set of rifle barrels now missing, or was also intended for ball
