circa 1865, with blued round tapering 36in. barrel, deeply crowned muzzle, applied mount for a dove-tailed adjustable tunnel fore-sight, central mount for a micro-adjustable ladder rear-sight, the squared breech end with short sighting and side-ribs and signed 'WHITWORTH MANCHESTER' around the wheatsheaf trademark, plain long top-tang with shoe for a vernier tang-sight, brushed bright lock signed on the bar 'MANCHESTER ORDNANCE & RIFLE CO.', the tail with wheatsheaf trade-mark, sliding safe forwards of the blued hammer, highly figured chequered walnut pistol-grip half-stock, chequered blued iron heel-plate, the top-spur with dove-tailed mount for a back position sight, blued furniture, horn grip and nose-caps, chequered trigger-blade, no provision for ramrod and complete with its cased set of match sights including two diopter plates, six interchangeable fore-sight elements with the adjustable fore-sight, the adjustable centre sight and vernier sight etc.
