* A RARE 38-BORE WHEELOCK PISTOL OF BRESCIAN FORM, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
circa 1660, with two-stage 17 1/2in. barrel (cleaned with light staining and mild pitting to the flats near breech), plain tapered solid top-tang fixed from beneath, plain flat angular lock with external wheel and lozenge jaws to the cock, walnut full-stock (old inlet repairs along upper edge of fore-end and along ramrod channel), inlet iron scroll-work, fish-tailed angular butt with moulded iron band, the heel inlet with iron fretwork, complex side-nail escutcheons, applied tang-less iron trigger-guard bow, turned pillar trigger, triple carved band reinforcement at ramrod throat and muzzle, iron fore-end tip and replacement iron-tipped wood ramrod
