ROSA HALL, GERMANY
A 20-BORE FLINTLOCK SPORTING-RIFLE, MODEL 'JAGER-TYPE', rack no. 94,
circa 1750, with brushed bright swamped 26 3/4in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'ROSA IM HALL', the right hand side-flat marked 'H: S: N: 94', dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with carved foot, engraved beaded band at breech, curved flat bevel-edged lock with lozenge pan and stepped tail, bridleless frizzen, walnut full-stock with carved borders around the brass furniture, further carving to the wrist and behind the top-tang, inlaid ebony and ivory star to the raised cheek-piece, 'hogs-bristle' set trigger and probable replacement wood ramrod
Other Notes: Hall was most probably Schwabisch Hall in Baden, Wurttemberg. It came from a castle collection of a European prince in that area whose forbears purchased it new and bears their armoury number engraved on the barrel.
