A SCARCE CASED LIMITED EDITION BOWIE-KNIFE, UNSIGNED, MODEL 'SONS OF THE REPUBLIC TEXAS THE ALAMO 1836 - D-DAY 1944',
number '202' of an edition believed of 500, with polished stainless steel 10in. blade false edged for the last 5 1/2in. the right hand blade-face deeply etched and engraved with portraits of Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston against a background of the fight at the Alamo together with a banner marked 'SAN ANTONIO OCT. 27, 1835' and another marked 'SAN JACINTO APRIL 21, 1836', the obverse of similar layout but with portraits of Dwight D. Eisenhower and Lyndon B. Johnson against a background of United States paratroopers and civilians with another banner marked 'SONS OF THE REPUBLIC', limited edition number stamped to the heavy boat-shaped brass cross-guard, dark hardwood coffin-shaped hilt and heavy angular brass pommel, in its glass-topped cedarwood display case lined in green material and with fixings supporting the knife diagonally, the frame of lid with etched brass plaque reading 'SONS OF THE REPUBLIC TEXAS THE ALAMO 1836 - D-DAY 1944', unused, some tarnish to brasswork
