mid 18th century, with 30 1/4in. straight single-edged blade (tip re-profiled), traces of shallow fullers along the back edge and various struck armourer's marks, wire basket hilt (loose) of 'Sterling' form with three panels pierced with trefoils and holes, the rear bars co-joined with stylised fleur-d-lys and 'S's, heavy faceted pommel and wood grip (worn), heavy cleaning and light corrosion throughout, numerous edge-nicks to blade
