28in. sleeved nitro barrels, rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH', and with acanthus scrollwork at the sleeving join, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, Dickson patent round-action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use number 1018, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, profusely engraved with fine scrollwork, brushed and blued finish overall, 14 3/8in. figured stock with wooden insert (likely cheekpad removed), weight 6lb. 4oz., in a relined brass-cornered oak and leather case
