circa 1877, with nickel-plated 4in. semi-octagonal barrel, the raised sighting rib with retailer's details deliberately removed (possibly 'Rigby & Co'), thumb-wheel release for the unfluted cylinder, the cylinder with auto-ejection and marked 'STEEL', twin Pryse bars to the break-open action, the bottom of frame marked 'PATENT 610' within a diamond shaped border, chequered one-piece grip and heel-plate with lanyard ring, complete in a period oak English market storage case with provision for loose rounds, compartmented and lined in blue baize and containing a period cleaning rod and oil bottle, the circular brass escutcheon to lid engraved 'ARTHUR L. CHANCE, CHAD HILL, EDGBASTON'
