A LATE-19TH CENTURY WHALING HARPOON GUN,
probably American circa 1890, with heavy cast-iron 44 1/2in. 'barrel' of approximately 2 1/4in. bore and mounted with a full-length brass sighting rail, lift-up brass waterproof cover to rear exposing a 'rolling block' action for a .310 cartridge (rusted), teak tiller grip-piece and lanyard operated firing mechanism, on a pillar stand fitted to a later wheeled trolly and complete with a period barbed iron harpoon
