circa 1881, with heavy octagonal 28in. slightly tapered blued barrel signed at the breech 'E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION N.Y.' and marked with the calibre (.38) to the bottom flat, dove-tailed 'rocky mountain' fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight, colour-hardened plain receiver (much finish remaining) marked 'HEPBURNS PAT OCTOBER 7th 1879', central hammer, top-tang mounted with vernier peep-sight, walnut chequered half pistol-grip butt-stock, nickel-plated crescent iron heel-plate, colour-hardened side-lever, chequered walnut splinter fore-end with large white metal oval escutcheon to rear and plated schnabel tip
