circa 1870 and possibly converted from muzzle-loading, with 29 3/4in. twist iron barrels, the top-rib signed 'GEORGE HIGHAM, WARRINGTON', the pin apertures and rib-end at breech engraved with flambeau needles, carved fences, fully border and scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'GEORGE HIGHAM' (strong traces of colour), highly figured chequered walnut butt with gold oval escutcheon at the wrist, scroll engraved iron heel-plate with short top-spur, fully engraved iron furniture including lower tang grip-safety, push-forwards under-lever opening, and fully chequered splinter fore-end held with a single key
