A MAGNIFICENT AND IMPORTANT CASED PAIR OF 32-BORE PERCUSSION HORSE-PISTOLS, serial no's. 4150 & 51,
ordered on March 10th 1888, with heavy browned octagonal 12in. damascus barrels, matted sighting planes with screwed and longitudonally dove-tailed beaded blade silver faced fore-sights, dove-tailed standing notch rear-sight, the left hand top-flat signed 'JOHN DICKSON & SON' near the breech and 'NO.' forwards of the rear-sight, the right hand top flat with '63 PRINCES STREET EDINBURGH' opposite the signature and '1' or '2' opposite the number abbreviation, colour hardened finely scroll engraved breeches and snails with full fences and platinum plugs, fully scroll engraved top-tangs, each featuring the relevant pair number of the pistol, border and scroll engraved colour hardened back action locks signed 'JOHN DICKSON & SON', en-suite hammers with sliding safes to the rear, chequered walnut half-stocks with engraved and colour-hardened pistol-grip caps, blued trigger guards and tangs, engraved barrel key escutcheons and mahogany ramrod with brass mounts, complete with their original lavishly appointed stained oak storage case compartmented and lined in green baize, John Dickson trade label to the inside of lid and containing every conceivable accessory including two moulds, two pigskin covered flasks, two nipple pots, snail capper, signed oil bottle, cleaning and loading rods plus a selection of turn-screws with a nipple key, both the pistols and the accessories appearing unused other than slight storage marks.
