A RARE 54-BORE PERCUSSION TRANSITIONAL HAMMERLESS REVOLVER, MODEL 'HARVEY'S PATENT', serial no. 4104,
circa 1860, with octagonal 4 3/4in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'HARVEYS PATENT 4104 BREECH LOADING REVOLVING PISTOL', engraved muzzle with small bead fore-sight, dove-tailed standing notch rear-sight, complex turned and carved articulated rammer also retaining the barrel wedge when closed and further removable to act as a nipple-key and turn-screw, plain cylinder with engraved leading edge and moulded rear band, radiused bottom-strap, engraved full nipple-guard with loading aperture, border and scroll engraved radiused boxlock hammerless action with sliding safe on the left hand face, fully chequered slightly flared grip with cap-box concealed in the flat iron pommel, silver oval-shaped escutcheon to wrist and guarded self-cocking trigger, traces of original finish
