A .56 PERCUSSION SMOOTHBORE FIVE-SHOT REVOLVING CARBINE, MODEL 'BRITISH CARBINE', serial no. 10314,
circa 1860, with octagonal to round 21in. barrel, brass blade fore-sight, dove-tailed rear-sight with centre standing notch and twin folding leaves, grooved top-strap signed 'COL. COLT HARTFORD CT. USA', fully fluted cylinder, solid iron frame with side-hammer, iron top-tang, brass trigger-guard and lower tang, walnut butt-stock with brass heel-plate (stock cracked through and repaired at wrist) and under-barrel loading lever.
