the gun dated for 1817, with 44 1/2in. barrel 'in the white' (some patchy staining), military plain lock signed 'ST. ETIENNE' MANUFRE ROYALE', brass pan, radiused tail, walnut full-stock with dished cheek-piece and monogram stamped at wrist, iron furniture and iron ramrod, complete with period socket bayonet stamped at the forte with a heavily struck star device and 'M', no scabbard
