A GOOD 6-BORE PERCUSSION TUBELOCK FOWLING PIECE SIGNED WILLIAM BURNETT, SOUTHAMPTON, no visible serial number,
circa 1825, with 48in. substantial twist-iron round, tapering barrel, the top near breech signed in script 'WILLIAM BURNETT SOUTHAMPTON', engraved breech-block with traces of colour and short carved sighting-rib, bead fore-sight, scroll engraved top-tang featuring a waterfowl, border and scroll engraved lock of Manton type and signed 'WILLIAM BURNETT' below the tube clamp-spring, also engraved with a scene of waterfowl at rest, engraved slab-sided hammer with nose-guard, heavy walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture with traces of finish, twin escutcheoned barrel keys, horn fore-end tip and substantial mahogany ramrod with brass tip and worm end, weight approx. 22lb.
