A SUBSTANTIAL 8-BORE PERCUSSION FOWLING-PIECE OF EXTRAORDINARY LENGTH, SIGNATURE INDISTINCT, no visible serial number,
circa 1785 with later conversion from flint, with 66 1/4in. barrel, the breech-block with flat plane on the top, applied white-metal boat-shaped fore-sight, shallow sighting groove to top-tang, drum and nipple conversion, walnut half-stock with 'Durs' style chequering at the wrist (cracked and repaired around lock and breech), brass furniture except fore-end tip and replacement ramrod (iron surfaces pitted externally)
