A CASED .230 (RIMFIRE) SEVEN-SHOT DELUXE POCKET REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTER'S PATENT', serial no. 1668,
circa 1878, with 2 1/2in. sighted octagonal barrel retaining strong traces of original blued finish (bore shallow pitted), borderline and scroll engraved brass frame marked 'W. TRANTER'S PATENT' and with spur trigger, front locking cylinder with central machined band, single action mechanism, the hammer retaining some original blued finish, smooth walnut grips, in burr-walnut veneered fitted case lined with blue baize, the lid with shaped brass escutcheon initialled 'J.S.' and complete with original cleaning rod (key absent)
