for 1883, with tapering blued 2 1/2in. barrel (mild frosting to bore) the top signed on two lines 'COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.', blued crescent fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, blued fluted cylinder, colour hardened solid frame with side loading gate, blued grip-straps and trigger-guard, finely chequered hard-rubber birdshead grips embossed with the Colt trademark (worn smooth), no provision for ejector-rod, the whole retaining fair traces of factory finish
