A .461 (GIBBS No.1) FALLING-BLOCK MATCH-RIFLE, MODEL 'WEBLEY'S PATENT' serial no's. 27461 & 9604,
circa 1900 and built with an 1897 Webley action (number 9604) and rebarrelled circa World War One by George Gibbs with a re-blued gain-twist heavy round 36 1/2in. Metford segmentally rifled barrel, the top signed 'METFORDS PATENT 982' followed by 'GEORGE GIBBS, 29 CORN ST. BRISTOL' (re-applied), windage adjustable tunnel fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight, borderline and scroll engraved falling block action with faceted nocksform, the left side signed 'ARMY & NAVY CSL LONDON' over '27461', thumb safe to the top-tang, the tang also fitted with a micro-adjustable vernier sight of later origin, chequered walnut pistol-grip butt-stock, chequered heel, moulded and engraved iron grip-cap, engraved under-lever and chequered semi beaver-tail fore-end with horn tip
