for 1816 and almost certainly originally made as a flintlock, with rebrowned 30in. barrels, the top-rib re-engraved 'JOSEPH MANTON DAVIES STREET BERKELEY SQUARE LONDON', engraved top-tang, bar-action locks signed 'JOSEPH MANTON, PATENT' and engraved with scrolls and serpentine mythical beasts, walnut half-stock originally chequered at the wrist now worn smooth, iron furniture and ebony ramrod, exposed iron surfaces cleaned with some shallow pitting and loss to detail
