A RARE PAIR OF 50-BORE FLINTLOCK DOUBLE-BARRELLED PISTOLS WITH SILVER DECORATION, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1775, with 4 1/2in. turn-off cannon barrels (three frozen) false rifling at the muzzles for a key (absent), octagonal form breeches with private proofs, squared boxlock actions with border and scroll engraving and signed in a banner on the left 'HARPUR' and a similar banner on the right side 'DUBLIN', sliding left hand pan cover operated via a catch (one catch absent), central single cocks and broad frizzens, trigger guard bow safes and walnut butts profusely inlet with silver wire scrolls and capped with silver grotesque masks bearing Birmingham hallmarks for maker Charles Freeth (date letters obscured)
