Product Details

AN 11.15x60R (MAUSER) SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING-RIFLE, UNSIGNED, MODEL 'WERDER'S PATENT', serial no. 104568,
cut down from the service-rifle circa 1880, with round 27in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, long action with automatic load ramp opened by a guarded front trigger and cocked via a large thumb-lever, side safe, walnut half-stock (cut down from full) with applied raised cheek-piece, iron military furniture, front swivel missing

Provenance: This mechanism is the Werder version of the Martini. This was an 1869 rifle converted from the original 11.15x50R to the Mauser 11-15 x 60R in 1876. These single-shot rifles were nicknamed "Lighting" because of the speed of reloading and firing due to the unusual mechanism and made popular sporters after being sold out of service
