A CASED PAIR OF 50-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED TRAVELLING-PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1840, expertly restored and re-finished, with colour hardened 3 1/2in. side-by-side barrels, engraved bands at the muzzles, London proofs, engraved rib-end at breech, borderline and scroll engraved colour-hardened action with radiused edges and colour hardened engraved side-hammers, the top-tang signed 'ALEX'R THOMSON EDINBURGH', finely chequered walnut full-pistol butts with scalloped heads, flared heel and colour hardened iron caps with central trap-doors, blued trigger-guard bows and captive ramrods on blued under-ribs, in a period walnut box with side-catches converted for these pistols and relined and compartmented in green baize, complete with a lozenge bodied flask and scissors bullet mould
