A .44 SINGLE-ACTION NICKEL-PLATED MARTIAL REVOLVER, MODEL '1858 NEW MODEL ARMY, serial no. 27770,
circa 1865, with octagonal 8in. barrel signed by the maker and marked 'NEW MODEL' (faint), conical fore-sight, solid frame with sighting groove to top-strap, six-shot plain cylinder, smooth walnut grips, the left hand grip marked with traces of a martial cartouche, plated trigger guard and hinged under-barrel rammer, much later applied but period nickel finish remaining
