A FINE CASED PAIR OF 28-BORE FLINTLOCK DUELLING-PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1795, with browned octagonal twist smoothbore 9in. barrels, the top-flats signed 'LONDON', small white-metal bead fore-sights, shallow standing notch rear-sights, twin platinum bands and lined touch-holes at breech, engraved bevel-edged colour hardened step-tailed locks with sliding safes behind the cocks and signed 'WILSON', semi rainproof pans and roller frizzens, walnut full-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, blued and engraved trigger-guard bows, twin barrel keys with oval white metal escutcheons and brass mounted mahogany ramrods with tool ends, complete in a possibly associated mahogany case relined and possibly re-compartmented for these pistols, replacement trade label inside lid and containing a number of period accessories including loading rod, three-way flask and scissors mould, the pistols in outstanding condition with storage marks only
