circa World War One, with straight 32in. polished blade etched with scrolls and a 'GRV' device within an arabesque panel on the right hand side, the left similar but with Kings crown and the star-shaped badge of the Irish Guards, 'MADE IN ENGLAND' and serial number to back edge, inlet proof mark at forte, plated half-basket hilt with Irish Guards badge and three reeded bars, wire-bound sharkskin grip, chequered back-strap with domed pommel and complete with its brown pigskin leather scabbard
