A GERMAN PRE WORLD WAR ONE ARTILLERY OFFICER'S SWORD,
circa 1890, with plain narrow 35in. plated blade, broad fuller to both sides for the first two thirds of its length, makers mark at forte (obscured by the langet), cast and carved brass hilt with broad langets, one with crossed cannon the reverse with a vacant oval, rolled turned down quillion, 'P' shaped knuckle-bow, wire bound ribbed celluloid grip with lionshead pommel inset with red glass eyes, the backstrap, reinforcing ears and collar carved with oakleaves (strong traces of gilt remaining to brasswork) and complete with its black painted iron scabbard
