circa 1830, with browned twist-iron 8in. micro-rifled barrels signed on the top-flats 'POWELL-SHEFFIELD', dove-tailed blued pillar fore-sights and standing notch rear-sights, colour hardened and engraved breech-blocks and engraved blued top-tangs, borderline and scroll engraved bar-action locks, scroll engraved slab-sided hammers, walnut half-stocks with full saw-handle chequered grips, moulded and engraved iron pommels, guarded single-set triggers and mushroom tipped ebony ramrods, strong amounts of finish remaining to both pistols, together with a possibly associated period walnut case carcass with partial burgundy velvet lining
